We want every child to grow up to be a happy, contributing, member of society.
Having studied a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, I wanted to be a Genetic Counsellor. So I was reliably informed that experience of working with old people, young people and people with disabilities would benefit me. After working in a care home for the elderly, I got a job at a Special Educational Needs school for children with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties as it was back then, Social Emotional Mental Health now. This is where I found my soul. I loved making a difference. So here I stayed, for a very long time, more than 20 years. Having my own family of 4 children and part-time hours allowed me to try other ventures, including working with children in crisis who were out of education and/or not accessing the education they needed. I made a difference and I loved it.
Many moons ago, my dad was in Merseyside Police on the James Bulger case. It changed all our lives. I was at Liverpool John Moores University when the Bulger case happened so I remember the atmosphere. Over the years, I've thought of many questions. My answers? Do something to invoke change. Be the change. So here I am.
